Health Tip: Change Diet to Combat Constipation

By | April 5, 2019

— Constipation typically is diagnosed when there are fewer than three bowel movements per week.

Making changes to what you eat and drink can relieve constipation. And including fiber-rich food in your diet is a great starting point, says the National Institutes of Health.

The NIH mentions these good sources of fiber:

  • Whole grains.
  • Legumes.
  • Fruits and vegetables.
  • Nuts.

Drinking lots of water also may help soften stools, making them easier to pass.
