A happy and jovial attitude lifts your moods and makes others want to be around you. You may want to radiate joy and excitement but you may feel restrained due to unsightly teeth. If you have crooked teeth and would want them corrected, there are a number of options that are available which will suit your individual needs. Invisalign is a modern treatment method that allows you to comfortably go through teeth straightening without others knowing that you are on treatment.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a method of straightening teeth which makes use of clear removable aligners. The aligners are made of smooth plastic and are comfortable when worn over your teeth. The aligners are designed to move your teeth slowly and gently to the required position. The fact that the aligners are removable makes the treatment comfortable and will cause minimum interruption to your lifestyle. This is because you are required to remove the aligners when eating which means you can continue your normal diet even when on treatment.

With other types of braces, you will be required to adjust your diet as there are foods that you will need to cut off completely or reduce their intake. You will also remove the braces when brushing and flossing your teeth which will give you an easier time maintaining your oral health during treatment.

Appointment

Invisalign can treat a variety of orthodontic conditions and it is necessary for you to first confirm whether or not the treatment will be suitable for you. The first step is therefore to identify an orthodontist who is trained in the provision of Invisalign treatment. You can decide to talk to a few providers to settle on one who you feel comfortable with. You will be required to have your first appointment whereby the orthodontist will examine you and will advise you if Invisalign will work for you.

Treatment Plan

If Invisalign is suitable for you, the orthodontist will take pictures and impressions of your teeth and will also take x-rays. This information will be used by Invisalign to come up with a 3D image of your teeth. The orthodontist will prepare a detailed treatment plan for you based on these images. You will be able to view from the 3D images the progress of your treatment since you will see how your teeth will look like at each stage. You will also know how long your treatment will take.

Aligners

As per your treatment plan, your aligners will be made and you will be required to wear a set of aligners for two weeks. You will then be required to wear the next set of aligners. Your doctor will give you the sets of aligners that will keep you until you are due for the next appointment. At your appointment, your teeth will be checked to confirm that the Invisalign treatment is going on as planned and you will then be given the next sets of aligners.

Caring For Aligners

Aligners are easy to clean and maintain as all you have to do is brush them and rinse them in lukewarm water. There is also an Invisalign cleaning kit which you can use to clean them. You should only remove the aligners when eating and brushing your teeth.
