Okay, it’s official, a pet in the office can make you more productive.
It’s a win, win for everyone, you get to hang with a puppy all day and your boss gets more work out of you.
So if you need an argument to get a poochie or kitty in your office, we have some evidence for you!
Marie-Jose Enders, who studies the relationship between animals and humans at Open University, said it’s good for the work atmosphere to have a dog in the office.
“Not only does your cortisol level drop when you stroke a dog,” she told Business Insider.
An animal at work makes people more motivated and they like their work more and they experience less stress.
“You also produce more of the hormone oxytocin, which makes you feel more relaxed and happy.”
Also, if you’ve had a heated argument, or you find everything a little overwhelming just interact with the office pet and you could calm down.
“If your boss is giving you a hard time, a dog can make it easier to put certain situations into perspective. You can just take a bit of space and walk the dog,” said Enders.
