The Dr gave her mg tablets of Ativan (Lorazepam) similar in compound somewhat to Xanax (alprazolam) and Valium (diazepam). Apr 24, - All of a sudden I noticed that once in a while when I would fly, I Xanax and similar anti-anxiety medications work well for lots of people. as alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), clonazepam (Klonopin), and diazepam.     Wow, this drug helps very much. Now I use the skills I learned in Therapy along with my Ativan. Now I'm not as bothered by anxiety.

    Used this for 4mg/day for 4 yrs for anxiety; quit for a few months to see if I still needed it. Withdrawals weren't as bad as I'd feared (2 days of discomfort). When the panic attacks came back full force, I was more than happy to return to Ativan and feel "normal" again.
