Kitchen of the Year

Queensland-based Darren James Interiors was awarded 2019 Australian Kitchen of the Year.

Meticulously detailed and installed with precision, the quality of workmanship that was evident in every corner of the winning kitchen was a distinguishing feature that caught the judges’ eyes.

With an asymmetrical layout adding interest and a balanced contrast between dark and light, the overall aesthetic is industrial but refined.

A beautiful custom-designed timber island bench sits below an eye-catching pendant assortment, highlighting this exciting centre space within the kitchen and bringing the light and dark hues together.

The Australian Kitchen of the Year Award acknowledges quality of workmanship in the manufacture and installation of a complete single residential kitchen.

NSW design company Minosa won the Kitchen Design category in recognition of excellence in the design, innovation and flair of a renovated or new residential project.

Judges were impressed by the bright and airy feel inside this compact space. Using light finishes and clever design, the kitchen maximises each area to create a versatile culinary domain.

For a client who loves to cook and entertain, the design needed to offer functionality and accessible storage options for a long list of appliances.
