By | October 10, 2020

Victoria recorded 12 new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours to Sunday morning.

There was one new death, after four days this week with no COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

The 14-day rolling average is 9.3, still above the key target that will trigger the state starting to leave heavy lockdown.

The government has said the 14-day average must be at five for some major restrictions to go from October 19.

The 14-day rolling average in regional Victoria is 0.4.

There are 10 cases with an unknown source in the state.

On Saturday the Health Department updated the list of high risk locations that have been visited by a person with COVID recently.

Anyone who visited the following locations is urged to get tested immediately, regardless of symptoms:

  • Altona Beach foreshore and pier on October 2 between 1pm and 5pm
  • Cheltenham Priceline, 1239 Nepean Highway, on October 5 between 12.50pm and 1.05pm
  • Ferguson Plarre Bakery in Chadstone, 1341 Dandenong Road, from October 5 to 7 between 5.30am and 2.30pm

The full list of hot spots can be found on the DHHS website and includes several stores at Chadstone Shopping Centre, as well as locations in Benalla, Fitzroy, Preston, Forest Hill, Hughesdale, Keysborough, Kew, Victoria Park, Kilmore, Mulgrave, Oakleigh, Richmond, Springvale, Broadmeadows, North Melbourne, St Albans, Williamstown, and Wyndham Vale.

Case numbers have mostly hovered above 10 this week after a brief promising run of single digits, with 14 recorded on Saturday, 11 on Friday, 11 on Thursday, six on Wednesday, 15 on Tuesday and nine on Monday.

Premier Daniel Andrews is expected to announce some easing of restrictions at his daily press conference next Sunday.

But he has foreshadowed the restrictions easing would probably not be as significant as many had hoped, due to the “stubborn tail” of the second wave.
