By | August 28, 2019

• In a newly uploaded YouTube video, Dr. Pimple Popper removes several whiteheads from an acne patient’s face.
• During the procedure, Dr. Pimple Popper uses a comedone extractor to remove the whiteheads more safely and gently.
• Whiteheads typically form when pores become clogged with dead skin cells, oil, and bacteria.

In her most recent YouTube video, Dr. Pimple Popper provides the second half of an elaborate whitehead extraction procedure. (As some astute commenters pointed out, this follow-up video appears to be years in the making, but the original may simply have been taken down before Dr. Pimple Popper’s channel gained more widespread popularity.) Regardless, we now have the second half of the procedure to witness—and it doesn’t disappoint. (You can see part one of the procedure here.)

In the clip, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—carefully extracts several whiteheads from a patient’s face, using a combination of a scalpel-like tool and a comedone extractor, which makes the process less likely to cause irritation. In the post’s caption, she also notes that the patient—a young man—has previously been treated with isotretinoin, a drug prescribed for severe cases of acne.

Whiteheads are an extremely common condition, and they form when pores on the surface of the skin become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, according to MedicalNewsToday. (Overall, acne is the most common skin condition in the United States, affecting nearly 50 million Americans every year, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.) Thankfully, they’re also easy to treat without making an appointment with your dermatologist. These expert-approved tips will help you clear things up.
