Your Weekly Tarot Card Reading, Based on Your Sign

By | April 27, 2020

You don’t need to know the difference between a three-card and a Celtic cross spread to get the most out of a tarot card reading. All you need: your Sun sign! Here’s what I do: shuffle my tarot deck and pull out the cards in order from Aries to Pisces plus one general card for everyone so that you can get specific advice around your personality. Let’s go!

A GENERAL CARD FOR EVERYONE: SEVEN OF COINS

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

However much you’ve already invested into something (or someone), you’re under no obligation to keep going. The Seven of Coins asks us all to take a breath and look at everything we’re dealing with right now. What’s working? What’s not? Are we at our best? If so, resolve to continue. If not, look at how you can stop or adjust your commitments. Remember, you can change course whenever you choose. Take a moment to decide where to invest your energy.

ARIES: THE MAGICIAN

Powerful creative energy is swirling around you this week, Aries, with the mercurial Magician card. You want to create or invent something. And you must! This endeavor could actually end up bringing you major cash, so don’t see it as a frivolous. Unleash your imagination and start a new project this week.

TAURUS: THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

You’re not a fan of change, I know, but it’s happening. The Wheel of Fortune is the tarot’s transformation card, and it hints that things are shifting around you. The ~trick~ here is to get ahead of the curve and push the wheel yourself. Start the action yourself, instead of waiting for something to happen.

GEMINI: QUEEN OF SWORDS

The Queen of Swords is your sign’s card. Basically, you ARE her. She’s independent, fearless, intellectual, and even a bit ruthless. She comes to you this week because you need a boost of this cerebral energy in order to get sh*t done. Put yourself first and demand what you deserve. This isn’t a time to be shy and retiring, but to step up and get what you want. Act bolder than you feel—the Queen of Swords has got your back, bb.

CANCER: JUDGMENT

judgment tarot

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

You’re a deep thinker, and you love to think back on the mems. Judgment is a powerful card about processing an old situation and seeing it differently. The fresh perspective will help you process it and file it away under, “Case Closed.” Take a wander through the library of your recent past, and select a volume to read. There’s unfinished business to be finished.

LEO: THE HANGED MAN

the hanged man tarot

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

You’re a big bundle of energy, and current circumstances are making you feel antsy. The Hanged Man is a reassurance that this WILL end, and that getting frustrated will only make this brief chapter more uncomfortable. Relax, settle into your ~new normal~, and look for the positives. They’ll help you get through this.

VIRGO: THE HIGH PRIESTESS

the high priestess tarot

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

Ruled by Mercury, you’re likely to be found reading, researching, solving puzzles, and texting with your group chat. However, this week you feel like taking a more introspective and even spiritual approach. Think mindfulness, guided meditations, crystal healing, ritual baths, lucid dreaming, oracle cards… you get the picture. The High Priestess tells you to explore a new practice for guidance and inner peace. Go explore the wonderful world of magick.

You’ve got big plans that are happening soon, and you barely contain yourself! You already know that others will raise an eyebrow, but you honestly don’t care, because your project inspires and excites you. The Fool shows that a journey is just beginning, and your optimism will take you a long way. Whether it’s a new job, relationship, makeover, or hobby, enjoy this ~honeymoon phase~. The hard work will start soon enough.

SCORPIO: SEVEN OF WANDS

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

You’ve never been fazed by competition; your planetary ruler, Mars, helps you thrive under pressure. Good, because the Seven of Wands shows that something will challenge you this week. Don’t focus on taking them down, but on pushing yourself up. Look for ways to regain your ~edge~ and (silently) thank your rival for giving you this vital nudge. Sometimes we all need a wake-up call.

SAGITTARIUS: KING OF WANDS

Rider-Waite deck/Raydene Salinas Hansen

Taking risks is a big part of your fiery nature, Sagittarius, and the King of Wands reveals that you’ll be rolling those dice again this week—with a positive outcome. So go all in. Even if your dreams don’t play out exactly, something will happen to bump you into a better position. Take a chance.

CAPRICORN: EIGHT OF SWORDS

Raydene Salinas Hansen/Rider-Waite deck

If you aren’t careful this week, Cap, you could find yourself back in a situation that you promised you’d never see again (tempted to text your ex, maybe?). Resist! The Eight of Swords shows that a trap lies ahead. Identify your bad habits and avoid them. If you can escape this messiness once, you can do it again. This could be an important turning point.
